Tokyo, Japan – March 4, 2021 – AWL, Inc. (“The Company”, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, President: Muneharu Kitade), a Hokkaido University-certified venture company and leading edge AI camera solutions provider, has announced that from Friday, March 12th to Friday, April 9th, The Company will conduct PoC at Sapporo Factory, a shopping complex in Sapporo City, Hokkaido operated by SAPPORO REAL ESTATE CO., LTD. (“SAPPORO REAL ESTATE”, Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan, President: Hiroshi Tokimatsu) to encourage visitors to get around the complex by visitor attribute analysis and real-time crowd status visualization of the restaurants utilizing “AWL Lite”, an AI camera solution.
This PoC is a collaboration project with SAPPORO REAL ESTATE with the aim of creating new business utilizing “AI-powered advertisement distribution” technology, which runs optimum advertisement that suited to the visitors.

To conduct PoC, “AWL Lite”, 10-inch tablets with AI cameras are introduced at the entrance of restaurants in Sapporo Factory to obtain crowd status and display the status on the digital signages installed in the main aisles. “AWL Lite” STB terminals set to the digital signages with cameras, analyze signage viewer’s attribute and display the optimum menu for the viewer and measure the effect of the crowd status to the viewer and lead them to voluntarily head to a less crowded restaurants. The solution enables visitors to obtain information in the facility suited to the visitor along with the real-time crowd status.
By utilizing this “AI-powered advertisement distribution” technology, AWL and SAPPORO REAL ESTATE expect to boost the number of visitors and improve customer satisfaction by optimized advertisement suited to the visitor, in addition to avoiding crowd creation in the shopping complex or stores. AWL and SAPPORO REAL ESTATE are intended to realize a new form of shopping complex that is more convenient and comfortable for the visitors along with ensuring safety and security.
